Staff at insolvency and restructuring specialists Begbies Traynor are celebrating 30 years of doing business in Preston - and have forged a new charitable partnership in the city to mark the occasion.
Begbies Traynor launched in Preston in 1993 when its founders opened the office in Winckley Court. Then known as Buchler Phillips Traynor, the team was headed up by Ric Traynor and Andrew Dick.
A combination of organic growth and acquisitions has seen the business grow into a national and international AIM listed company with more than 100 offices.
Begbies Traynor is now the UK’s market leader in business rescue and recovery, receiving more corporate insolvency appointments than any other UK firm.
The office was initially set up to support companies in Lancashire who were experiencing financial distress. Since then, it’s client base has expanded to cover the North West and it also operates nationwide.
As well as its team of corporate and personal insolvency professionals, the office is also the base for the marketing, digital and business development activity of the entire Begbies Traynor Group.
As part of its 30-year celebrations, Begbies Traynor has formed an official partnership with the Foxton Centre, a registered charity in Preston which looks to provide support and assistance to vulnerable adults in the local area, with a focus on rough sleepers and the homeless.
The partnership’s first step sees Begbies Traynor providing funding towards the Foxton Centre’s breakfast scheme for the city’s vulnerable adults.
Ric Traynor, executive chairman of Begbies Traynor, said:
“As one of our first offices, our Preston operation has been instrumental in our growth from a small firm to an international organisation that continues to evolve. We’re proud of our Preston roots and we are pleased to continue to play a key role in the financial and professional services sector here. As well as creating jobs here we also do our best to give back to the local community which has served us so well.
“Our partnership with the Foxton Centre, which was chosen by our staff in Preston, helps to shine a light on the city’s vulnerable and we hope that it goes some way to increasing awareness and support for the good work it undertakes.”
Chris Lawton, partner at Begbies Traynor in Preston, said:
“We are pleased to have advised thousands of businesses across Lancashire during the past 30 years, providing the relevant solutions to rescue and provide assistance to companies who are in financial distress.
“Preston is a great place to do business and we’ve always had strong relationships with other firms in the city who we continue to collaborate closely with for our clients. We are privileged to have loyal staff who are all committed to evolving our business in the heart of Preston.”
Paul Stanley, North West regional managing partner of Begbies Traynor, said:
“The success of our Preston office is a key part of our regional growth strategy across the North West. We’re looking forward to developing our existing relationships and forging new ones during 2023 and beyond.
“This 30-year milestone is a tremendous achievement and we’d like to thank everyone, particularly the professional services community who has supported us.”
