Business recovery and restructuring specialists Begbies Traynor have been called in as administrators to one of the Southampton’s longest-established building contractors.
Star Mechanical and Engineering Limited, of Chandlers Ford, Southampton – which had been operating since 1999 – has gone into administration and has reluctantly decided to cease trading.
Julie Palmer and Simon Campbell, of Salisbury-based Begbies Traynor, were appointed administrators to the company on December 10.
Mrs Palmer said: “Some final completion works were carried out on a small number of contracts in the run-up to the administration order, but the employees have now been made redundant. The construction sector is particularly tough at the moment for sub-contractors and trading has been difficult for some time.”
The company had 21 employees and worked on a number of prestigious property developments in London for a variety of clients.
